Street Fruit is a series of vibrant mixed media paintings that explore the seemingly simple shapes and arrangements of freshly chopped fruit sold by Latino street vendors across Los Angeles. The paintings are rendered in layers of gold ink, glitter, bright neons and textured acrylic mediums and inquire about street food as a kitsch concept by drawing attention to its transformation within capitalist systems, where once traditional and essential sustenance becomes commodified, packaged, and marketed as fast food or fast fashion.
