For Frieze LA 2025, Dominique Gallery will present Temple Of Waves, a solo presentation of new works by Florida born, LA based artist Adee Roberson. Roberson’s works feature abstract paintings using acrylic and pastel on linen as well as archival and familial photos screen printed on paper and wood. These radiant images evoke a Black nostalgia that commemorates a vivid timeline of Black diasporic movement, spirit, and emotion.
Presented in a healing blue that calls upon temples, the sky, and the ocean as places of infinite possibility, the booth will be transformed into a vibrant space as a reflection of how Black diasporic communities function as healing networks of survival and care. Through sound and color, we can communicate with the spiritual, emotional, and natural world and landscapes. Jazz drummer Milford Graves posited the blues as a technology created by Black people post slavery to activate the parasympathetic nervous system through the tear ducts, as weeping helps to transmute trauma in the body, mind, and spirit.
